The last 12 months have seen Das Kapital focus more intently on his productions, remixes and DJ performances than at any time in his career so far. This seen to his most prolific year to date, with heavy national playlisting for his tracks on commercial radio and appearances in ten different Beatport Top 100 charts in the same period.
He’s hit the main iTunes Top 100 charts in South Africa, Holland and Belgium, the Top 50 for Shazam in South Africa, and has a fully loaded release schedule for the first half of 2019, following an equally heavy schedule at the end of 2018.
Remixes for Moonbootica (Embassy One Germany), J.Worra, Endor, Arzeen (Pinkturban LA) and Ghstghstghst (Night Shift Sound) in the initial months of 2019 build on the foundations laid via the heavily supported single "XTC" with MNNR on Botnek’s World Famous Headquarters label; the single "Absolute Zero" with Version 5 out of Minnesota; and 'Hit The Club / The Rooster' with Bart B More, one of the most successful releases on This Ain’t Bristol out of Germany to date.
All these showcase his forward-thinking and groove-driven approach to club music, which continues to morph and refine, warping House, UK Garage, Techno, Acid, Breaks and Bass music into a style that is uniquely his own. By turns percussive and weighty with a now unmistakable skip, his sound continues to turn heads in the underground and on main stages alike, easily blurring the lines between genres, and earning him a reputation for excellence, innovation and experimentation without compromise.
2018 also saw Das Kapital release on This Ain't Bristol, World Famous Headquarters, Saucy Records, Nightshift Sound, Animal Language, Punks Music and Mähtrasher; also collaborate with VINNE (Brazil); remix for Alex Session, Affiliate, HAEZER and Evida; with yet further solo material, collaborations and remixes in the pipeline for later in 2019.
Consistent support for his music over the last 12 months has come via A-Trak, Diplo, Gregor Salto, Botnek, Todd Edwards, Oliver Heldens, Treasure Fingers, Jack Beats, Anna Lunoe, Tough Love, Afrojack, Vanilla Ace, GTA, Fedde Le Grand, Rrotik, VINNE, Shiba San, GAWP, DJ EZ, Mr Belt & Wezol, My Nu Leng, MAXIMONO, Billy Kenny, J. Worra, Charmes, Golf Clap, Moska, Riva Starr, Endor, My Digital Enemy, Murder He Wrote and Judge Jules among many others.
He was nominated for a further three awards at the 2018 DMASA (Dance Music Awards South Africa) including Best EDM Record for "Hit The Club" with Bart B More; Best Dance Radio Show for his weekly national radio show "In Das We Trust"; and for Best Compilation for his "Das Kapital Presents Overtime Vol 2" on his label Do Work Records. This was after picking up Best EDM Record for his single "Bend It" in 2017.
Approaching its 4th year on air, his weekly three hour national radio show on 5FM – In Das We Trust – has continued to grow its cult status, and push forward-thinking club music to the public consciousness with features from the likes of Kyle Watson, Proxy, Melody's Enemy, Jazuelle, NiQW, Bastien Bux, Lil Texas, Barely Royal, Kostakis, FOOLiE and DWSON. Previous guests have included NOISIA, Bontan, Plastician, DJ Lag, My Nu Leng, Joe Ford, Krafty Kuts, Roska & AC Slater. 2017 saw the first Drum & Bass Special, featuring exclusive interviews with Roni Size, Uncle Dugs, Fabio, and Kier of Shogun Audio. He also continues to host his weekly ULTIMIX show on 5FM every Thursday evening, further featuring and profiling South African DJs on his platform.
As a DJ, his work is best heard first hand, where his infectious energy, spontaneity and dedication to the journey are most evident, and hardest felt. Headline performances at Rocking The Daises (South African's answer to Glastonbury), Plett Rage, We Love Summer, and many other festival and club performances in 2018 reinforced his standing as one of the best DJs playing in South Africa and internationally today.
