Dmitry Ushakov is a 22 year old DJ/Producer from Magnitogorsk in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the eastern side of the extreme southern extent of the Ural Mountains. He goes by the name of Mancodex and is making his debut on Audiophile XXL with his “Zombies Want Love Too” EP.
So Dmitry, tell us about the house music scene in Russia?
As I see, house scene in Russia is in infancy. Russia is very big country but most of festivals and events take place in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. That’s why it’s very difficult to live in central part of Russia and be a part of the scene.
I would imagine guys like Proxy & Volac play a large part in inspiring new artists in Russia. Who are some other Russian artists that have paved a path for house music that Americans might not be aware of?
MONISTA – he is a great producer from Volgagrad. You should keep you eyes on him. Also, TONY WONKA – 1/3 of Teddy Killerz. He’s just released a track on DIRTYBIRD.
Would Russian zombies prefer beef stroganoff or cabbage rolls?
Of course beef stroganoff and brains. Ha-ha!
What’s up next for Mancodex?
Oh, more music and I’ll try to make US tour. I hope 🙂
